Juan Carlos Jiménez Vadillo

Juan Carlos Jiménez Vadillo

My name is Juan Carlos Jiménez. I was born in Madrid, Spain, 32 years ago. I've spent my entire life devoted to 3D, design, computer graphics and other kind of artistic expressions. In eartly 1992, I began using 3D Studio R2 for MS-DOS. So, I can fairly say that I have over 17 years of experience. To stay in touch with tecnhology and to satisfy my passion for programming, I was graduated in 2004 as a Computer Engineer. My professional career started out, ten years ago, as a visual effects producer with Next Limit. I spent about two years running RealFlow simulations for movies, commercials and TV. It was neccesary for me to come up with a major project, then I joined, for six months, Ilion Animation Studios as a Senior Simulation and Effects Artist. With the goal of accumulating knowledge from other fields of the industry, I was employed in RandomControl doing some 3D virtual reality technology research, in Differend Games doing some games stuff and in LightHub, one of the most important architectural visualization companies in my country. I finally spent two years working as a graphics supervisor in Producciones Mandarina, a TV production company, creating high-end graphics for some awarded TV shows and documentaries in most of the TV channels here in Spain (Telecinco, TVE, Cuatro, TV3 and 8TV). In 2007 I ran my own company so I could work in product visualization and 3D modeling which is my real passion. If you are interested in hiring me for some freelance work, please take a look at the freelance section in the homepage. You can also take a glance at the photography section, which is one of my most loved hobbies.

Josah Mings

Josh Mings ~ Founder of Solid Smack (One of the hottest Solidworks Blogs around).

I am originally from Illinois. I currently lives in Tulsa, Oklahoma with my wife Maggie and our brand spankin’ new baby Sebastian. But before that we lived in Switzerland, San Antonio, and Austin, Texas. Before that we lived in the piney woods of Longview, Texas where we went to school at LeTourneau University and, incidentally, where we also met. I started using SolidWorks in 1996 That date looks way old. Thanks to a great boss who let me take off with it (thanks Paul) I started helping out getting it implemented throughout the company. I got the university to pick it up also as a class where I taught it. After that, Maggie and I got married, we moved to Austin where I went to work for MLC Cad Systems, a (the best) SolidWorks Reseller. Awesome team. This is where I really honed my skills, got all my certification stuff, learned how to not throw-up before talking in front of people and prepare for demos till 3 in the morning. Fun times. After that I was seduced by the wonder of the VIP aircraft interiors industry. All along the way involved in implementing, developing processes, and using SolidWorks. I currently work with Executive Aircraft Completion in Tulsa where I work with a great team and also push the envelope in 3D design while using a great product to design and engineer some really cool stuff. Beyond that I stay pretty busy stretching out a 1 year renovation of our 1973 Spanish Ranch style house to 3 years and taking care of Sebastian. What am I interested in? Well, thanks for asking. I like web design, layout, tattoo art, drums, skateboarding, architecture, jazz music, hardcore music, drawing, painting, cooking, jumping off stuff, good Thai movies and good Thai food. All through my work experience I was constantly confronted with people’s resistance to change. Needless to say, it strangely inspired me, which is why I decided to start this. SolidSmack just doesn’t deal with Solid modeling, it’s about getting inspired about something. Anything. For me it’s about pushing myself to discover new ways and technology to help people. Not that the old doesn’t always work, it’s just crazy what can happen by just having a little better attitude about the possibilities.

Specialties:
